Kornél Szepessy is the CEO of HungaroControl, the Hungarian Air Navigation Service Provider. He graduated as an engineer and economist from the University of Miskolc. Between 1997 and 1999, he was the Director of the Hungarian Investment and Trustee Co. Ltd. In 1999, he became the Managing Director of Unique Projects of the Hungarian Privatization and State Holding Company. In 2001, he worked as a Consultant – Operative Project Coordinator for the Air Traffic and Airport Directorate. He was responsible for the division of the Air Traffic and Airport Directorate into two independent companies - HungaroControl, the Hungarian Air Navigation Service Provider, and Budapest Airport. He also contributed to the foundation of Budapest Airport by managing the division of property, business planning, and organisational development. In 2002, he became the Chief Strategy and Development Officer at Budapest Airport responsible for Information Technology, Real Estate, Strategic Planning and Analysis. Between 2003 and 2010, he was the founding partner of Capitol Consulting Group to provide affordable and quality strategic consultancy services for medium sized Hungarian companies. He became the CEO of HungaroControl in 2010. Since that time, the company has developed its corporate strategy aimed at making HungaroControl one of Europe’s most innovative and technologically advanced air navigation service providers. In 2013, HungaroControl opened its new state-of-the art air navigation control centre and launched its project to build one of Europe’s first air navigation knowledge centres. In 2015, the company was the first in Europe to introduce unlimited free route airspace, and in early 2018, it will pioneer again by opening its own full time operation remote control tower in Budapest.
